"It’s nice to be back." This resonated in so many ways, friend!
Your words let me feel how nice it felt for you to be to be back -- I felt it all through this piece. It allowed me to feel so grateful you are back, AKA "It's nice to have you back." And it stirred something in me, too. Something I need to follow. (Is it excitement? Maybe!)
Thank you for this, Matt. Morning pages, and Writer's Hour, has helped me through difficult times and let me uncover a trove of discoveries to surprise and delight. I look forward to more.
Oh, my friend, this post is a gift—a reminder that writing is both compass and map, that excitement is a worthy guide, and that returning to ourselves is always possible.
I can’t wait to read what unfolds. No insistence on the outcome, just the deep pleasure of watching you create. Welcome back.
I'm glad you're back, Matt! Looking forward to hearing more about how you're creating your life/home/creative space. It's been one of the most satisfying journeys for me - creating a sanctuary that's truly mine in midlife. It's a transformative process... Kathy R (LWS, Athena Wellness)
Great to see you writing again Matt. I am finding the longer I leave it with my Substack, the harder it is to come back to it. So your post is timely. Also.. I wonder if the collective intrigue behind Bashar is the hope there is a higher intelligence out there that may shine a light for us on this crazy planet run by ever crazier people.
Ahhh dear Matt. So happy this popped up on my substack feed just at the moment I had a pocketful of enough moments to read it. Love your writing - looking forward to reading more of it. And that quote from The Alien!! Stirring indeed…off to go find ‘em on insta now 👽
What a beautiful uplifting piece, Matt. Although I only know you through your wonderful work with LWS and didn’t know you in this, your erstwhile writing space, I’m glad you’re back!
How lovely! I moved from a metro area back to my hometown (pop. 245) in the midwest. It is interesting to see a place you know so well with older, more experienced eyes. It is the little things that I took advantage of as a kid that stick out to me the most now :)

As a writer's coach, I can definitely relate "I’ve been running a writing community for five years but not really writing." I needed to sign up for an MA in Creative Writing to force writing time into my life alongside the business. LOVE that you're coming home to yourself (literally and metaphorically).

I forget - what was the Tim Ferriss shoutout? I remember just talking about it like you had officialyl made it now, but I don't remember the context
thanks man. Appreciate it. OG subscriber! Tim shared one of my blog posts over Twitter back in 2017, truly did feel like I 'made it'
